Rubia Ruiz has been with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics since 2014. She spent a portion of her time in Patient Financial Services as a patient advocate in Patient Billing and now services them in person at the Iowa River Landing. With all this advocacy, she felt it was time to start advocating for her peers as part of Staff Council. In 2020, she was a part of the Health Care and Human Resources committee; part of what she did is work on a proposal to emphasize the importance of performance evaluations and training for supervisors and was able to submit a proposal to central HR for consideration.
