My role as the Statistician Manager at the University of Iowa College of Nursing is to provide statistical support to CON researchers as they prepare grant proposals and conduct research. I have been in this position since 2009; however, I graduated from University of Iowa in 2001 with a PhD in Educational Measurement and Statistics. In the spring of 2018 I was elected to UI Staff Council to represent research and scientific staff. My first year as a councilor I served on the University Relations Committee that focused on boosting visibility with the state legislature and increasing collaboration among shared governance organizations on campus. My second and now third year as a councilor I have been serving on the Human Resources Committee. I led an effort to review UI policies concerning uniformity and consistency in compensation practices with regard to sex and race/ethnicity. Currently, I collaborate with several other councilors on establishing a solid, transparent, and uniform connection between performance evaluation and compensation, recognition, professional development, and career advancement opportunities.
