The University of Iowa partnered with United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties during a fall giving campaign. This year’s “Unite in Purpose” campaign, which ran from November 15th through December 20th, encouraged donations to support United Way’s mission of improving lives through the power of community. Employee giving campaigns account for the largest portion of donations that United Way receives.
Staff Council joined in to support this campaign by helping to spread information though campus mailings, digital boards, social media, and information sessions. Campaign communication focused on the spirit of giving and the positive impact that United Way has on the community. At the close of the campaign, University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students supported United Way with $148,086 in donations and increasing our total number of donors from the 2022 campaign. In additional to monetary donations, staff also supported local families through the holidays by donating meals and essential items.
United Way works to build a strong community by directing donations into services for individuals and families in need. Through partnership with 29 local nonprofit organizations and businesses, United Way is able to connect thousands of people with vital support including healthcare, education, and other services. If you missed the campaign deadline and would still like to give, you can continue to donate through the University of Iowa United Way Campaign site. The United Way also has numerous volunteer opportunities for anyone looking for other ways to give back to the community.
