Councilor Spotlight Ann Lawler 03-2025.jpg

Any idea who represents you on Staff Council? The feedback we’ve received suggests that many University staff members would answer “no.” The Councilor Spotlight series is intended to introduce new Council members and how they serve the University on Staff Council. Why would you want to contact your representative? They can elevate your concerns or ideas, help you find information, and connect you with resources across campus. Ann Lawler is the Research Support Manager at the College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, serving faculty, staff, and students. She represents the University function of Research and Scientific Services on Staff Council. Ann has been part of the University for 17 years and has become an involved Staff Council member by serving on the Awards and Education Committees.

When asked what Ann hopes to learn or achieve while serving on Staff Council, she responded, “By Serving on Staff Council, I hope to learn how to effectively represent my colleagues by sharing their ideas, concerns, and suggestions. This will allow me to develop my advocacy skills and influence decisions that impact our community. This role also provides a chance to give back through volunteering, contributing my time and skills to support our university while pursuing personal growth and learning. By connecting and engaging with staff and administrators across the university, I’ll learn more about how the entire organization functions. I aim to make a meaningful impact through both my Staff Council role and through volunteer efforts.”
