Applications are now open for University of Iowa staff to serve on University Charter and Non-Charter Committees for the 2026–2029 term.

Each spring, the Staff Council Committee on Committees solicits applications to fill staff vacancies on university committees that play a critical role in shared governance. All full-time and part-time Professional & Scientific (P&S) and Merit staff are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Why Serve on a Charter Committee?

Committee service is a meaningful way to contribute to the University of Iowa community. Members help advance the UI Strategic Plan by:

  • Recommending and advising on university policies
  • Interpreting and communicating policies to campus constituencies
  • Collaborating with colleagues across departments and units

Serving on a committee also offers opportunities to develop leadership skills, broaden professional networks, and influence university-wide decisions.

Term and Application Details

  • Term Length: Most appointments are three years, beginning September 1, 2026
  • Time Commitment: Varies by committee; applicants should review expectations and confirm supervisor support before applying
  • Selection Announced: May 2026
  • Application Deadline: Midnight, Sunday, March 8, 2026
