Shawn is the QC Manager at the UI Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing located on the Oakdale campus. The CBB is a contract manufacturer that specializes in large scale microbial fermentation. He is a recent addition to both the CBB’s growing quality department as well as the University in general. Prior to moving to the University, he spent 23+ years at Integrated DNA Technologies. Along with his quality duties at IDT, he also enjoyed being part of the company’s DEI advisory council.

Outside of work, he spent 5 years on the Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors including two years as President of the Board. He currently lives in North Liberty with his wife and two sons when they are home from college. You can usually find him walking the neighborhood with Benji, the family’s rescue pup.
