On Saturday, May 21st, Staff Council members plan to beautify a 2-mile stretch of Highway 6 in Johnson County near Kent Park. The “Adopt-a-Highway” (AAH) program is a great way to give back to our community and to spend time with staff and other volunteers from around campus and the community.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) information brochure, the AAH program “allows individuals or groups to do one or more eligible activities on a segment of highway. AAH activities can reduce litter along highways, enhance the environment, beautify roadsides, and build community support for anti-litter and highway beautification programs.” Councilors and others recognize the importance of Kent Park to visitors from around the state and want to help keep the area around the entrance clean and inviting. If you’re out by Kent Park on the morning of May 21st, give us a wave or a thumbs-up!
