Melanie Cuchna and Kelli Jackson Amato, Well-Being Specialists in UI Wellness within University Human Resources, presented on ways for employees to create small, daily habits to support well-being and departmental opportunities within the liveWELL program to support employee well-being and contribute to a culture of well-being at work. These programs align with the Holistic Well-Being and Success pillar of the UI Strategic Plan, which calls to “embed well-being and mental health into all aspects of campus culture to better support students, faculty, and staff.”

University of Iowa faculty and staff report on the Personal Health Assessment they do not get enough physical activity, fruits and vegetables, and adequate sleep, which leads to greater health challenges and lower well-being. Faculty and staff can receive support for making healthy changes and incorporating daily habits into their life by working with a liveWELL Health Coach

Staff Council learned about Wellness Grants, Wellness Heroes, Weeks of Wellness, and Wellness Ambassadors, which provide formal opportunities for departments to support employee well-being through funds for well-being activities, formal recognition, and opportunities to learn about well-being topics, programs, and services.
