Staff Council loves to have fun so UI Homecoming is the perfect event. For several years, councilor Jenni Yoder hitches up the wagon, blows Herky up, and helps us “float” along the parade route. Many councilors walk alongside, handing out pom poms, candy, and stress-combatting yellow squeeze balls. This year, three councilors added a little more to the festivities by wearing blow-up costumes – we had Tilly the Turkey (Dawn Coffman), Milky the Spotted Cow (Anne Hinkle), and Pikachu (David Stenersen). Where in the past we may have had a few notice our Herky, this year David’s animated Pikachu had the kids screaming or chanting “Pi-ca-chu!” It was so great to have kids calling for Pikachu and to have David hopping and skipping along to greet and high-five as many as he could. Parade-goers may not remember Staff Council or even the pom poms or candy, but they will remember the time Pikachu hopped and skipped along the Homecoming Parade!
