Michael Fletcher is the Director for University Counseling Services (UCS), serving students directly and providing outreach, training, and consultations to faculty and staff. He represents the University function of Behavioral Health and Health Care Services on Staff Council. Michael has been part of the University since 2022 and has become an involved Staff Council member by serving on the Human Resources and Health Care committees.
When asked what Michael hopes to learn or achieve while serving on Staff Council, he responded, “Greater insight into the university’s culture and processes while building relationships on a broader scale.”

Q: What inspires you?
A: People being developed and attaining their full potential. Watching people progress and grasping concepts, and opportunities. Truly, the thought of continuous learning inspires me and provides the foundation for the hope that lies within me. I think it is the reason I do the work I do.
Q: What is something you do outside of work for fun?
A: Traveling to new places and engaging in building new memories with people. Traveling for me is exciting and provides a refreshing experience, always.
Q: What is your favorite local spot or attraction?
A: I have not found one yet. I am still getting to know the place, even after two years.
Q: What would constitute a "perfect" day for you?
A: The opportunity to offer an act of kindness to someone.
Q: If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would you choose and why?
A: Any song by Josh Groban. His music is inspiring and relaxing. His voice is one of a kind.
Q: If you could have any superhero power, what would it be and why?
A: Powers like Superman who represents the perfect superhero in my opinion. I like his powers. He represents the symbol of hope.
