Carl Follmer has been the Associate Director of the Accounting Writing and Communications Program since 2015.  In this role, he directs departmental communication programming within the Tippie College of Business.  He also is an adjunct instructor of Business Communication and Protocol (BUS: 3000).  Carl served on Tippie's Elected Staff Council for 4 years (2017-2021) including 2 years as the council's co-chair and was elected as UISC's Tippie representative in 2022.  During his time at Tippie, he has won the college's New Staff Impact Award (2017) and the Innovation in Teaching Award (2021). 

Carl received a B.A. in History, an M.A. in German, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, all from the University of Iowa.   His dissertation investigated fascist children's literature in Germany and Spain, and his Masters thesis focused on depictions of monsters in medieval German literature. Carl enjoys spending time with his family, running, writing fiction, and cross stitching.
