Chandler Easley
Chandler Easley serves as the Learning Specialist for Student Athlete Academic Services through Hawkeye Athletics. She moved here from California in the fall of 2019 after completing her Doctorate of Education and uses her experience as a classroom teacher, administrator, program developer, and educational leader to support Student-Athletes who face academic challenges of any kind. In her role, she manages a team of learning assistants who help our Student-Athletes build the academic skill sets necessary to be successful in the higher ed classroom. She also partners with many wonderful departments around campus, including the College of Education, Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA), Student Disability Services (SDS), as well as regular collaborations with Learning Specialists across the Big Ten Conference. Chandler also enjoys serving on committees such as the First Gen Task Force and Celebration for Excellence and Achievement Among Women. This year will be Chandler’s first as a member of the Iowa Staff Council, and she anticipates building new partnerships and engaging in critical discourse about the university, its many contributors, and moving in a direction of positive growth. Outside of work, Chandler is an avid reader, a lover of the outdoors, and spends a lot of time corralling her dog, Gertie, and cat, Emerson. This year she looks forward to getting to know the area more by enjoying area trails, summer festivals, local music, and all of the adventures that Iowa City life has to offer.
