Heath Vignes has worked since 2009 in the Flow Cytometry Facility at the University of Iowa.  In 2020 he took over as the Technical Director of the Facility.  The Flow Cytometry Facility’s primary goal is the identification and isolation of various cell populations.  Laser-based instruments accomplish this by the use of antibodies to which various fluorochromes or fluorescent dyes have been attached and are directed at molecules known to exist on the cell surface or in the cytoplasm.  Heath graduated from the University of Iowa in 2009 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and holds his Certified Cytometrist certificate ASCP(SCYM).  Outside of work he enjoys golfing, sand volleyball and cheering on the Hawks!
