Biography

Zach received his Astronomy PhD from Boston University in 2015 and then held a two-year post doc position at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. In 2018, Zach found his way to the University of Iowa as an assistant research scientist in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He currently studies how Mars interacts with the space environment and is on the science team of NASA’s MAVEN mission. As a staff council member, Zach is interested in advocating for increased recognition for early-career staff and cultivating ideas to bring all staff together as a community.
