Staff Council members helped staff the remarkably busy University of Iowa booth at the Iowa State Fair in August. Council members engaged with thousands of fair attendees during the shifts. They shared snippets about the positive contributions we as UI Staff provide to the University and State of Iowa – along with passing out countless Iowa football posters, pencils, sports schedules, pins, and temporary tattoos to the young and young-at-heart. While attendees (Iowa fans and fans of other schools) greeted our members warmly, Herky – as always – was the star of the show when our favorite bird stopped by. 

UI is annually a staple at the expo, which is held in the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building on the fairgrounds. Staff Council volunteers included Brett Cloyd, Ashley Peters, Brian Morelli, James Jorris, and Abbie Beadle. Staff Council President Jackie Kleppe is also one of nine UI staff serving on the UI State Fair planning committee who all volunteer as a booth leads several days throughout the ten day long fair.
