Staff Council continued the tradition of representing the University of Iowa at the Iowa State Fair, connecting with Iowans and showcasing the important role staff play in making the University of Iowa a thriving institution.
Staff Council members volunteered at the UI Booth in the Varied Industries Building, welcoming fairgoers, answering questions, and distributing Hawkeye swag. With more than 1 million people attending the fair throughout the 11-day event, the booth provides a valuable opportunity to connect with a broad audience and highlight the people and programs that make the University special.
Staff Council firmly believes that representing the University at the State Fair is more than handing out posters and Hawkeye gear; it is an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to service, engagement and community connection. Staff are an essential part of the University of Iowa experience, and being visible at an event that brings together communities from across the state helps showcase the dedication and contributions of the University's staff.
The Iowa State Fair also provides a unique opportunity to strengthen the University's relationship with the people of Iowa. By volunteering at the UI Booth, Staff Council members help create a welcoming presence, share the Hawkeye spirit and demonstrate the University's commitment to being an active and engaged member of the state it serves.
Thank you to the Staff Council members who volunteered and represented the University of Iowa at this year's State Fair. Their time, energy and enthusiasm helped make the UI presence at the fair a success and demonstrated the impact staff can have beyond campus.
