A huge thank you and congratulations to the participants, volunteers, donors, and families who took part in the University of Iowa's Dance Marathon 31 on Feb. 7–8 at the Iowa Memorial Union.
This year, Dance Marathon raised an impressive $1,558,324 to support children with cancer and their families at UI Stead Family Children's Hospital. The University of Iowa Dance Marathon is a student organization that provides year-round support to young cancer patients and their families, offering financial assistance, emotional support, and opportunities to connect with others facing similar challenges.
The Big Event, a 24-hour Dance Marathon, is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. Students come together to celebrate children who have survived cancer and honor those who have passed away throughout the year. The event is filled with music, family stories, and moments of reflection, creating a powerful experience of hope and remembrance.
Since it began in 1994, UI Dance Marathon has raised more than $37 million to help with medical expenses, family support, and research. Every donation goes toward making life a little easier for these children and their loved ones.
The success of Dance Marathon 31 shows the kindness and dedication of the University of Iowa community. Year after year, students and supporters prove they are truly For The Kids.
