The Staff Appreciation Grant program continues to make a meaningful impact across the university by helping departments and units recognize the hard work and dedication of their staff. Created to strengthen a positive workplace culture, the grant provides flexible support that allows teams to host appreciation events, plan team‑building activities, or offer small but meaningful recognition items that show gratitude for employees’ contributions. These efforts help build connection, foster morale, and reinforce a supportive environment where staff feel valued.

The purpose of the grant is to empower departments to tailor appreciation in ways that best reflect their own team dynamics. Whether it’s a shared meal, a collaborative activity, or a thoughtful token of thanks, the grant encourages localized initiatives that celebrate the people who keep their units running. By giving the department, the resources to recognize staff in authentic and personalized ways, the program enhances belonging and strengthens the everyday culture of appreciation across campus.

Since its launch, the program has grown steadily and continues to demonstrate its value through strong participation. In 2025, the Staff Appreciation Grant distributed $23,570 in total funding, supporting appreciation efforts that reached more than 4,400 employees and resulting in 104 approved grants across the university. These numbers reflect the enthusiasm departments have shown for creating meaningful moments of recognition and the positive impact these efforts have on staff engagement and workplace satisfaction. Teams have used this support to build community, celebrate achievements, and bring colleagues together in ways that reflect the unique strengths and needs of their units.

The Staff Appreciation Grant opens annually on October 1 and closes on October 24, providing departments with a focused window to plan and submit proposals for their appreciation initiatives. Please see additional eligibility and application requirements on the website.
