The University of Iowa Staff Council continues to demonstrate the power of service and community engagement through a growing list of volunteer opportunities available to staff members across campus. Whether you’re looking to lend a hand for a few hours or take part in an ongoing service effort, the Staff Council’s Community Outreach Committee makes it easier than ever to get involved and make a difference.
Even though the University was recently enjoying winter break, councilors were hard at work giving back during the holiday season. Whether it was assisting with finals week activities like proctoring exams and serving breakfast to students or building holiday light displays and caroling at the Hope Lodge, bringing joy (and some comedic relief) to families and their guests, councilors continued to set new highs for volunteer hours served. Total volunteer hours eclipsed 98, setting a new monthly high for the committee. Special thanks to councilors Lindsy Lansberry for most hours served with 12.5, and Brian Morelli and Michele Hogue with most volunteer events attended, 3. These individuals embody advocacy in action and were recently recognized as Volunteers of the Month!
Looking to get involved? Staff members are invited to explore upcoming opportunities, some of which are highlighted below, by visiting the Staff Council website.
