The Education Committee exists to promote awareness on campus of existing professional development opportunities, to explore options for further educational opportunities and to make recommendations to the Council for making those educational opportunities available to the staff.

One of the main initiatives for staff education occurs at the monthly University of Iowa new staff orientations. At these events members from the Staff Council Education Committee are available to new staff members to promote the mission of staff council and encourage future involvement in Staff Council of new university staff members.

Additionally, the Education Committee stays current on professional development opportunities offered through The University of Iowa Learning and Development Office and shares those with Staff Councilors as appropriate.

Finally, the Education Committee facilitates the Councilor mentoring program for new Staff Councilors.
